Alex Lederman is a multimedia journalist whose work has been published by The Atlantic, The Washington Post, ABC News and PBS, among other outlets. He is currently a Deputy News Editor at Al Jazeera English in Doha, Qatar.
Alex's short documentary From Damascus to Chicago aired on the season 30 premiere of POV on PBS, the longest running TV showcase of independent nonfiction film. It was previously published as an Editor's Pick at The Atlantic, earned a Hearst Journalism Award for Multimedia Storytelling and screened at film festivals across the country.
He graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism in 2017 with a double major in journalism and political science and a minor in Middle East and North African studies.
While in school, Alex interned at ABC News, CNN, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs and Sirius XM and completed a fellowship at Al Jazeera English. At Northwestern, he served as News Director of WNUR-FM, where led a live 2016 election night broadcast, and as Sports Director at the award-winning Northwestern News Network.
